Hi, I’m Melina! And I love all things wellness.
Wellness and wellbeing has become increasingly important to me in recent years, as I developed debilitating anxiety right after I graduated from college in 2014 and became a high school teacher. On top of the intense anxiety I was experiencing that was making it tough to live my life normally, I knew I wasn’t in the right career. But I stayed in teaching for a year and a half before my anxiety got to an extreme and I left to attend graduate school in Higher Education Administration.
Developing such severe anxiety was obviously very difficult, but it pushed me to be much more intentional about my mental, physical, and emotional well-being and I have since cultivated a lot of ways for feeling well in this wild world. Now I want to share my tips with others!
To me, the first step to developing a healthier life (mind, body + soul) is to be aware of our flaws, triggers, and bad habits. However, it’s one thing to be aware of these traps we fall into…and it’s another to feel truly empowered to take action to improve our lives.
It’s not about being perfect, it’s about constantly being a work in progress and being open and willing to do the work day in and day out through small but important steps. It’s about embracing uncomfortable feelings and learning to love the unknown.
